How to Draw Sailor Moon – Let's Get Started!
Step 1
One of the most unique visual aspects of this character is her interesting hairstyle, and that is what we will start with in this guide on how to draw Sailor Moon!
First, start with a rounded shape on the left-hand side of where her head will be for the first bun of her hair.
Then, using the reference image we will be drawing the outline of her hair on top of her head. You can then add another of those round buns on the top right-hand side of her head.
Each bun of her hair has a long flowing portion coming from it, and these form an essential part of her design.
You can draw some long curving lines coming down from the bun on the left for now, and then add some curled lines at the bottom of it for the twirl there.
Step 2 – Next, draw a face for Sailor Moon
Now that you have started the hair, we can begin the face for your Sailor Moon drawing. When looking at her face, one of the first things you may notice is that her eyes are large and round, taking up a good portion of her face.
Her pupils are also quite large inside her eyes, and there are some additional lines for the eyelashes above them.
We will also be adding the second strand of hair flowing from the other bun, but be sure to leave a gap in it for where her arm will go in a bit.
Then you can draw a small rounded shape for her open mouth, and then finish off with her face outline and some dots for her freckles. We will also be drawing her neck, and once you have then you can move on to step 3!
Step 3 – Draw her arms and back next
In this third step of our guide on how to draw Sailor Moon, we will be adding her arms as well as her back. First, you can draw her square scarf going back from the base of her neck.
Then we can add her arms. The part of her outfit that her shoulders extend from are pretty rounded, and then her arms will be thin and at an angle.
Finally, you can use some more rounded lines for her back and waist.
Step 4 – Now, draw her skirt and start her leg
You can start to draw her skirt and leg in this part of your Sailor Moon drawing! First, draw a large bow at the base of her back for the band she wears at her waist.
Then you can draw her skirt coming out from under that. Her skirt is separated into various sections that you can draw with some curved angular lines that connect to one another.
Next, you can draw the first of her legs, and this one will be raised and bent. You can draw this leg with some rounded lines, and there will be a fairly large gap in this leg for where the second one will be going shortly.
Step 5 – Finish off your Sailor Moon drawing
Now it's time to finish off the drawing in this step of our guide on how to draw Sailor Moon before you add some colors in the final step.
In this part, we will primarily be focused on adding her second leg in this one, and unlike the first one this leg will be extended straight out.
It will also fill in the space that you left in the previous step, and will lead to the tall boot that she is wearing.
Once you have added that leg and some final details, you are ready to move on to the coloring part of the guide! You could also add some details of your own that you may like for this drawing.

Step 6 – Finish off your Sailor Moon drawing with some color
This final step of your Sailor Moon drawing is all about finishing it off with some color! She has a rather distinctive color scheme, and these include some yellow for her hair along with white, blue and red for her uniform.
These are the colors that we used in our reference image, and you can use this as a guide for your own picture.
You could also change up the colors a bit, and you can also have some fun playing around with your favorite art mediums and tools.
