Lost ALL files after OpenOffice Registration

Hi ALL.

HELP!

Today I tried to open an Calc file as I do usaually to work on it.

Unexpectedly the OpenOffice Registration forms appears. And I filled it.

For my surprise, after that an Import dialog box appears and my spreadsheet was blank.

Till yesterday, autosave (15min) was on and also check box for backup files creation.

I can't find nothing, backup files (.BAK) and every time that I tried to open my calc file the dialog box appears.

Does anybody can give me some orientation?

Thanks in advance

There was a Win10 update pack in the last year, what accidentally deleted some user documents. (It was depended some unknown combination of the Windows settings)

For any important work it is essential to make regular dated backups.

The timed/dated backup extension may be of use to you. You can download it from
viewtopic.php?p=406045#p405921

Note that you must invoke it separately using its button; it does not replace the standard save mechanism.

every time that I tried to open my calc file the dialog box appears.

That implies that the file was not deleted, but it may be corrupt.
A Calc file with the .ods extension is actually a zip archive.
Using a zip program such 7zip, see if can you open the .ods file. You may need to rename it with a .zip extension for some zip programs. If you can't open it then it is probably corrupt and beyond repair.
Normally there will be 5 sub-directories and 6 files in the main archive directory.
The content.xml file is where the actual spreadsheet data is stored.
If you can see all of that, try opening the .ods file on a different machine.

Hi!! So I had been working on a spreadsheet for over a month and all of a sudden open office asked me for my name and other info and then after that my files were gone and found out they were corrupted! I have been doing research and trying to follow all the steps but for non computer junkies its very hard. I do know the basics but not this kind of stuff! I have downloaded the zip software 7-zip and tried to open it there but it has different steps to open the zip file do I extract it, or archive it etc? Then I had no idea what character set I use looked that up also tried that and opened it up in a different software called libreOffice and it came out with all hashtags. Tried to open the file from open office using the file insert but there was not column down the tab for me to do so. Can someone please give me step by step instructions on what I can do? Thank you!

Your files are not stored in OpenOffice.
The fact that your files are corrupted and the fact that you lost your OpenOffice profile registration information implies to me that your hard drive is crashing and/or you have shut down your computer without taking all of the proper steps.
Please read through this tutorial and follow the steps indicated as soon as you can.
The more usage your computer has, the harder it will be to recover old data files.

An OpenOffice or LibreOffice file reading as all hashtags is bad news; it indicates that the internal content (data) of the file is corrupt. Your best bet is to follow the tutorial to which RusselB directed you.

Damage such as you report is often caused by Windows 10 deciding to do an update; Win 10 can simply interrupt any work in progress without asking for permission, leading to the catastrophic results you are seeing. The disk activity of the update can overwrite deleted sections of the disk drive, creating a situation that nothing of your file can be recovered and you will be forced to revert to a backup copy and re-enter any subsequent information.

Edit: It is important to remember that OO's Recent Documents list is a list of shortcuts to the last 10 files edited. This list points to their locations on the disk drive. if the list is blank, as can happen after some catastrophic event such as you report, this does not mean that the documents are gone, merely that the event has destroyed the list.

The documents should remain on your hard disk in the locations in which they were originally saved; using OO's /File /Open, one can use the navigation buttons to manoeuvre to the locations of the files. As each file is selected and reopened, it will once again appear on the Recent Documents shortcut (to the limit of the entries on Recent Documents, usually 10)
